The Will: Jane's ...

For privacy reasons, client names have been changed.

“There is one more thing,” Jane, my lovely client said before she left. Jane is an accountant who comes from a very prominent family. She is one of 3 highly successful children and loved both her parents tremendously.

“My father died two years ago and left me nothing. I wasn’t even mentioned in his will. Mari, this doesn’t make sense to me, because we had a great relationship”. She went on to explain how this ‘thing’ had become the proverbial elephant in the room and changed the sibling-relationships a bit. She didn’t need the money, but felt unloved and rejected.

Jane told me that her father died of cancer and was extremely sick during the last 18 months of his life.

Of course, I jumped at the opportunity to help solve this puzzle and mend all relevant relationships. By now Jane was familiar with my methods and the principles I know, so I excitedly blurted out “Let’s ask him!” Wide eyed she asked if it was possible. I had no doubt, so we dove right in and he came through.

Let me be clear on one very important little detail. I don’t see or hear the souls who come through. The person who needs them sees and communicates with them. I simply facilitate the encounter and am very aware of what is going on. I don’t talk, the matter is between the two souls who meet somewhere between here and there.

As I sat quietly, observing this miracle unfolding in my presence, I saw the tears freely flowing down Jane’s cheeks. I could see that she was in deep conversation with someone and nodded her head as a gesture of agreement and understanding a few times.

The peace that suddenly shone from her face was tangible and beautiful. Something real and deep happened here and I hoped that she would share whatever it was with me. I have no need to know the details of my clients’ experience, so if they want to, they are welcome to share whatever they feel comfortable with.

When things settled, Jane smiled the most joyous smile I’ve seen an adult smile. She told me that her father immediately came through and said that he was so sorry, it was an omission. By the time he had his final will drawn up he was already very ill and didn’t pay attention to the details as he normally would have.

He told her that he loved her very much and never meant to make her feel the way she did.

A few more personal and private words were spoken between them and he left.

This was the moment Jane’s life changed.

We had some contact for a while after this event, and I’m grateful to say that she shares her wisdom and love freely. She truly understands forgiveness.
